Chapter I
The Gate Breaks
Jeju Island, South Korea · 33.4°N 126.5°E
Years before the story begins, an S-rank gate on Jeju Island stays closed too long. Then the gate breaks.
Giant ants pour out of the rift. The island is lost within days, and the people living there do not get out.
Korea sends hunters back three times. All three raids fail. Jeju becomes a place nobody wants to talk about.

Chapter II
The Eggs
A hive that never stops
The tunnels are lined with eggs. Each failed raid feeds the colony more mana, and the colony keeps growing stronger with every loss on the human side.
The Mutation
Something new in the dark
During the final raid, the Queen lays one last egg. What hatches is not a soldier and not a worker. The hive has made a king.
Chapter III
A King Is Born
The Ant King walks out of the nest already stronger than most S-rank hunters.
Wings, claws, armor like black glass. And a mind sharp enough to learn human speech in the middle of a fight.
Every hunter eaten makes the King stronger. Every power swallowed stays.

Chapter IV
Korea and Japan join forces for one more raid. The Queen falls. Then the Ant King arrives, and the raid turns into a hunt with the hunters as prey.
01The fourth raid
Elite hunters from Korea and Japan land on Jeju together. Most of the plan goes right until the moment the King shows up.
02Goto Ryuji
Japan's strongest hunter steps up to face the Ant King one on one. The fight is short. Goto Ryuji does not survive.
03Min Byung-gu
Korea's top healer keeps the front line standing for as long as possible. The King devours Min Byung-gu, and the healing magic becomes the King's own.
04Cha Hae-in
Exhausted and alone, Cha Hae-in is the last blade still raised. The King moves in for the kill.
Chapter V
The Duel
Shadow Monarch vs. Ant King
A corpse this strong does not go to waste.
ARISE
Chapter VI· Shadow extraction
Jinwoo extracts the shadow and gives the new soldier a name.
Beru
The Ant King's war is over. Beru's service has just begun.
Chapter VII
As a shadow, Beru keeps every gift the Ant King ever stole and gains a few more. In the army of the dead, few soldiers hit harder or move faster.

Beru never says Jinwoo's name. Every sentence starts and ends with the title, delivered with total seriousness.
Chapter IX
The Monarch War
Beru fights beside Igris and Bellion against the Monarchs and their armies, one of the generals of the shadow legion.
After the war
The shadows stay with Jinwoo after the final battle, waiting in the dark until called.
Ragnarok
In the sequel, Beru watches over Sung Suho, the son of the Shadow Monarch.
Once the thing hunters feared most on Jeju.Now the one guarding the King's family.
